
Neyveli, Dec 12 Sneha Opportunity Services (SOS), a society functioning under the aegis of NLCIL observed the National Day of Intellectually Challenged at Lignite Hall, Neyveli on 12.12.2019. The SOS has been functioning in Neyveli with a vision to educate these differently-abled children by providing special education, medical attention, vocational training and employment. At present 72 special children are undergoing education in this institute.
Rakesh Kumar, CMD, NLCIL, the Chief Guest, in his, chief guest address observed that SNEHA’ the home for the ‘SPECIAL CHILDREN’ (Divyangs) has come a long way since its inception in 1987. As the meaning stands for, it is the Compassion and Care extended to the ‘Gods Own Children’ by NLCIL in different forms like Special school for their education, imparting various skills and rehabilitation measures to bring up them to the mainstream of the society and equip themselves to lead a normal life. Disability is only a state. They may be physically and intellectually challenged but differently abled having some inherent potential and skills found with them. So they are called as God’s Own Children. It is an opportunity to society to serve them
Appreciating the yeomen services of Sneha Opportunity School executive committee and staff, he appealed to each and every individual for taking responsibility to rekindle love and affection to the special children, reassure our support, and remind them and their parents that they are not alone in the battle in bringing up those children against all odds, he added,. Rakesh Kumar insisted that, SNEHA has developed adequate infrastructure and expertise in the field of ‘Behaviour Modification Technique Teaching Programs’ and extends practical training to students of Social work from Bowda College Trichy and Jawahar Science College, Neyveli.
Functional Directors R.Vikraman, Director (HR), Nadella Naga Maheswar Rao, Director (Planning &Projects), Prabhakar Chowki, Director (Mines) Shaji John, Director (Power) and Venkatasubramanian, CVO, NLCIL graced the occasion.
Kanchan Kamra , the President, Sneha Opportunity Services , in her absentia sent her presidential address ,which was read by Smt.Salma Philip Principal ,SOS. In her message Smt. Kanchan Kamra mentioned that with the support of NLCIL Management Sneha Opportunity School students had participated in various National events like Independence Day, Republic day and state level sports. This has helped to boost their morale. She informed that in ordered to achieve self-sustainability of the school the activities of school outlets along with Arts &Crafts like Poushtika & Amrut food out lets are geared up to match at par with other food out lets functioning in Neyveli city.
A pledge pertaining to the rights of the Intellectually Challenged persons were administered in Tamil, Hindi and English.
S. R.Sekar, CGM/TA /Executive Committee,SOS welcomed the gathering and C. Raghava Reddy, General Secretary, SOS presented the Annual report and explained in detailed about various programs organized by SOS and about various competitions participated by Sneha Students. The SOS hosted a cultural programme in which the children gave a scintillating performance and won the hearts of all the audience. R.Mohan CGM/CSR proposed vote of thanks.
