New Delhi, Feb 24: Narendra Modi on Tuesday underlined that India’s approach at the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi was rooted in its civilisational ethos, advancing organising principles of data sovereignty, inclusion by design, and accountability by default.
The Prime Minister was referring to an article by Hardeep Singh Puri on X, detailing the outcomes of the AI Impact Summit 2026. The summit brought together over 20 heads of state and more than 500 AI leaders from 100+ countries, making it the largest AI-focused gathering held in the Global South.
According to Puri, India used the platform not only to convene dialogue but to articulate a governance framework through the Delhi Declaration — positioning itself as a rule-shaper in the evolving global AI architecture. He highlighted India’s digital public infrastructure, which processes nearly half of the world’s real-time payments, alongside large-scale investment commitments, development of sovereign AI models, and integration into emerging AI supply chain security frameworks.
The minister emphasised the Prime Minister’s “MANAV” vision — centred on ethical guardrails, accountable governance, data sovereignty, inclusive access, and legal oversight. The framework advocates expanding AI access across socio-economic segments, ensuring benefits reach both rural and urban populations.
