Faridabad, July 04: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday virtually inaugurated NHPC Limited‘s 300 MW Karnisar Solar Power Plant in Bikaner, Rajasthan, marking another milestone in India’s journey towards clean energy, energy security and sustainable development. The project strengthens the country’s rapidly expanding renewable energy capacity.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister of State Arjun Ram Meghwal, and Deputy Chief Ministers Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa, highlighting the importance of the project for both the Centre and the state.
Addressing the event, Prime Minister Modi said renewable energy is the foundation of India’s energy security and sustainable future. He noted that Rajasthan is emerging as a global renewable energy hub, with world-class solar infrastructure playing a crucial role in achieving India’s clean energy ambitions.
NHPC CMD Bhupender Gupta thanked the Prime Minister, the Government of India, the Government of Rajasthan, the Ministry of Power, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, and other stakeholders for their continued support. He reaffirmed NHPC’s commitment to accelerating India’s transition towards renewable energy and contributing to the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
Developed using approximately 7.75 lakh domestically manufactured Solar PV cells and modules, the 300 MW Karnisar Solar Power Plant is expected to generate around 75 crore units of clean electricity annually. The project will also help avoid nearly 6.4 lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions every year, making a significant contribution to India’s climate and sustainability commitments.
Beyond clean energy generation, the solar project has also supported local economic development by creating direct and indirect employment opportunities for more than 40 local residents. As a Navratna CPSE, NHPC Limited continues to expand its renewable energy portfolio across hydro, solar and wind power, reinforcing its role in India’s green energy transformation.

भारत के माननीय प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने 4 जुलाई 2026 को राजस्थान के बीकानेर में स्थित एनएचपीसी के 300 मेगावाट क्षमता वाले कर्णीसर सोलर पावर प्लांट का उद्घाटन वर्चुअल माध्यम से किया। यह परियोजना भारत की नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा क्षमता में एक महत्वपूर्ण उपलब्धि है और स्वच्छ ऊर्जा व सतत विकास के प्रति देश की प्रतिबद्धता को प्रदर्शित करती है।
इस परियोजना का उद्घाटन माननीय राजस्थान के राज्यपाल श्री हरिभाऊ किसानराव बागड़े, माननीय राजस्थान के मुख्यमंत्री श्री भजन लाल शर्मा, माननीय केंद्रीय पेट्रोलियम एवं प्राकृतिक गैस मंत्री श्री हरदीप सिंह पुरी, माननीय केंद्रीय विधि एवं न्याय राज्य मंत्री (स्वतंत्र प्रभार) तथा संसदीय कार्य राज्य मंत्री श्री अर्जुन राम मेघवाल एवं माननीय राजस्थान की उपमुख्यमंत्री श्रीमती दिया कुमारी तथा डॉ. प्रेम चंद बैरवा की गरिमामयी उपस्थिति में आयोजित किया गया।
इस अवसर पर अपने संबोधन में माननीय प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा भारत की ऊर्जा सुरक्षा और सतत् भविष्य की आधारशिला है। उन्होंने आगे कहा कि राजस्थान में विश्वस्तरीय सौर ऊर्जा अवसंरचना का विकास हो रहा है, जो देश की स्वच्छ ऊर्जा संबंधी महत्वाकांक्षाओं में राज्य की एक प्रमुख योगदानकर्ता के रूप में भूमिका को और अधिक सुदृढ़ कर रहा है।
श्री भूपेंद्र गुप्ता, अध्यक्ष व प्रबंध निदेशक, एनएचपीसी ने इस परियोजना के सफल क्रियान्वयन में निरंतर मार्गदर्शन और समर्थन के लिए माननीय प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेंद्र मोदी, भारत सरकार, राजस्थान सरकार, विद्युत मंत्रालय, नवीन एवं नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा मंत्रालय एवं अन्य सभी हितधारकों के प्रति हार्दिक आभार व्यक्त किया। उन्होंने भारत के स्वच्छ ऊर्जा और नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा लक्ष्यों में योगदान करने के लिए एनएचपीसी की प्रतिबद्धता की बात दोहराई।
300 मेगावाट कर्णीसर सोलर पावर प्लांट भारत की नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा क्षमता को सुदृढ़ करने और भारत सरकार के ‘आत्मनिर्भर भारत’ के सपने को साकार करने के प्रति एनएचपीसी की निरंतर प्रतिबद्धता को दर्शाता है। इस परियोजना को घरेलू स्तर पर बने लगभग 7.75 लाख सौर पीवी सेल और मॉड्यूलों का प्रयोग करके विकसित किया जा रहा है।
इस सोलर पावर प्लांट से प्रत्येक वर्ष लगभग 75 करोड़ यूनिट स्वच्छ विद्युत उत्पादन अपेक्षित है। यह देश के नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा बास्केट में बड़ा योगदान देगा और प्रत्येक वर्ष लगभग 6.4 लाख टन कार्बन डाइऑक्साइड उत्सर्जन को कम करने में मदद करेगा, जिससे पर्यावरण संधारणीयता में वृद्धि और भारत की जलवायु संबंधी प्रतिबद्धताओं को समर्थन मिलेगा।
इस परियोजना ने स्वच्छ ऊर्जा उत्पादन के अतिरिक्त, 40 से अधिक स्थानीय लोगों के लिए सीधे और अप्रत्यक्ष रोज़गार के अवसर प्रदान किए हैं। जिससे इस क्षेत्र का सामाजिक-आर्थिक विकास हुआ है और राजस्थान के दूर-दराज़ क्षेत्रों में नियमित आजीविका के साधन निर्मित हुए हैं।
एनएचपीसी लिमिटेड, विद्युत मंत्रालय, भारत सरकार के अधीन नवरत्न सीपीएसई है। इसकी संस्थापित क्षमता 9332.90 मेगावाट (संयुक्त उद्यम/सहायक कंपनियों सहित) है। यह जलविद्युत, सौर और पवन ऊर्जा परियोजनाओं के माध्यम से नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा क्षेत्र में तेज़ी से अपना विस्तार कर रही है, जिससे देश के संधारणीय और ग्रीन एनर्जी भविष्य को महत्वपूर्ण योगदान मिल रहा है
