New Delhi, April 3, 2026: NMDC Limited, India’s largest iron ore producer, has recorded a historic production of 53.15 million tonnes (MT) in FY26, becoming the first mining company in the country to cross the 50 MT annual output mark.
The state-owned miner reported a 21% year-on-year growth in production, while sales rose 13% to 50.23 MT, marking its highest-ever volumes.
In March alone, the company produced 5.35 MT and sold 5.90 MT, registering sharp growth of 51% and 40%, respectively, over the previous year.
The strong performance was driven by key mining assets, including Kirandul and Bacheli in Chhattisgarh and Donimalai in Karnataka, all of which delivered record output during the fiscal.
FY26 also saw several strategic developments, including:
- Launch of NMDC’s international office in Dubai
- Operationalisation of its first coal mine in Jharkhand
- Commissioning of Deposit 4 at Bailadila, Chhattisgarh
The company’s high-grade iron ore continues to support India’s leading steel producers, reinforcing its role in infrastructure growth and industrial expansion.
Looking ahead, NMDC aims to scale production capacity to over 100 MT by 2030, supported by new mining projects, capacity expansion, and infrastructure development.
CMD Amitava Mukherjee said the company has “set a decisive pace for FY27” and remains aligned with the broader vision of powering a Viksit Bharat.
