Faridabad, July 20: NHPC Limited, in association with PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2, Faridabad, organised Van Mahotsav on July 18, 2026, under the flagship Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) and ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 3.0’ campaigns. Held around the theme “One Child–One Sapling”, the initiative sought to encourage environmental conservation, sustainable development and active public participation by inspiring students to contribute towards a greener future.
The programme was inaugurated by NHPC Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Bhupender Gupta, who attended as the Chief Guest. Also present were Director (Projects) Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Technical) Suprakash Adhikari, Director (Finance & Personnel) Mahesh Kumar Sharma, NHPC Mahila Kalyan Samiti Chief Patron Shikha Gupta, patrons Soma Adhikari and Rinku Sharma, Principal Mamta Shekhar, senior NHPC officials, teachers and students.
Addressing the gathering, Bhupender Gupta said that Mission LiFE, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, encourages citizens to make environmental conservation an integral part of everyday life. He emphasised that protecting the environment is a collective responsibility and urged students, teachers and citizens to plant more trees while taking responsibility for their care. He also highlighted the importance of nurturing environmental awareness among children to develop responsible future citizens.
Principal Mamta Shekhar said the programme was designed to inspire students to adopt sustainable practices and strengthen their commitment to Mission LiFE. She described the “One Child–One Sapling” campaign as more than a plantation drive, calling it a collective pledge to ensure a clean, green and sustainable future for coming generations.
As part of the Van Mahotsav campaign, a target has been set to plant 2,000 saplings across the school campus. During the inaugural programme, around 600 saplings of species including Pilkhan, Ashoka, Indian Willow and Nirgundi were planted, while the remaining 1,400 saplings will be planted in a phased manner over the coming days to enhance the campus’s green cover.
The event also featured a range of cultural and educational activities, including performances by the school’s Cub-Bulbul and Scout & Guide units, environmental songs, Bharatanatyam, group dances, instrumental music, skits, speeches on environmental conservation and a prize distribution ceremony, reinforcing the message of sustainability through student participation.

एनएचपीसी और केन्द्रीय विद्यालय के संयुक्त तत्वावधान में मिशन लाइफ एवं ‘एक पेड़ माँ के नाम 3.0’ के तहत वन महोत्सव का आयोजन
पर्यावरण संरक्षण, सतत विकास एवं जनभागीदारी को बढ़ावा देने के उद्देश्य से दिनांक 18.07.2026 को “एक बच्चा–एक पौधा” थीम के अंतर्गत एनएचपीसी लिमिटेड, फरीदाबाद एवं पीएम श्री केन्द्रीय विद्यालय क्रमांक-2, फरीदाबाद के संयुक्त तत्वावधान में “मिशन लाइफ (Mission LiFE)” तथा “एक पेड़ माँ के नाम 3.0” अभियान के तहत केन्द्रीय विद्यालय परिसर में वन महोत्सव का आयोजन किया गया। कार्यक्रम में अध्यक्ष एवं प्रबंध निदेशक, एनएचपीसी श्री भूपेंद्र गुप्ता मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में उपस्थित थे। इस अवसर पर निदेशक (परियोजनाएँ) श्री संजय कुमार सिंह; निदेशक (तकनीकी) श्री सुप्रकाश अधिकारी; निदेशक (वित्त व कार्मिक) श्री महेश कुमार शर्मा; एनएनएचपीसी महिला कल्याण समिति की मुख्य संरक्षक श्रीमती शिखा गुप्ता; समिति की संरक्षक श्रीमती सोमा अधिकारी व श्रीमती रिंकू शर्मा के साथ केन्द्रीय विद्यालय की प्राचार्या सुश्री ममता शेखर सहित एनएचपीसी के अन्य वरिष्ठ अधिकारीगण व विद्यालय के शिक्षक तथा विद्यार्थी भी उपस्थित थे।
कार्यक्रम के दौरान अपने संबोधन में श्री भूपेन्द्र गुप्ता ने विद्यार्थियों, शिक्षकों एवं विद्यालय परिवार को इस सफल आयोजन के लिए बधाई दी। उन्होंने कहा कि माननीय प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेंद्र मोदी द्वारा प्रारंभ किया गया मिशन लाइफ हमें पर्यावरण संरक्षण को जीवनशैली का अभिन्न हिस्सा बनाने की प्रेरणा देता है। उन्होंने कहा कि पर्यावरण की रक्षा केवल किसी एक व्यक्ति या संस्था की जिम्मेदारी नहीं, बल्कि हम सभी की सामूहिक जिम्मेदारी है। उन्होंने प्रत्येक व्यक्ति से अधिकाधिक पौधारोपण करने तथा वृक्षों के संरक्षण का संकल्प लेने का आह्वान किया। श्री गुप्ता ने कहा कि बच्चों में प्रकृति एवं पर्यावरण के प्रति संवेदनशीलता और संस्कार विकसित करना अत्यंत आवश्यक है, क्योंकि यही संस्कार उन्हें भविष्य का जिम्मेदार नागरिक बनाएंगे। उन्होंने विद्यार्थियों द्वारा पर्यावरण विषय पर बनाई गई चित्रकृतियों एवं प्रस्तुतियों की सराहना करते हुए उनकी सृजनात्मकता की प्रशंसा की तथा सभी विद्यार्थियों को उनके उत्साहपूर्ण सहभागिता के लिए बधाई एवं शुभकामनाएँ दीं।
अपने संबोधन में विद्यालय की प्राचार्या सुश्री ममता शेखर ने बताया कि इस आयोजन का उद्देश्य विद्यार्थियों में पर्यावरण संरक्षण, प्रकृति के प्रति संवेदनशीलता तथा मिशन लाइफ के सिद्धांतों को व्यवहार में अपनाने की प्रेरणा देना है। उन्होंने कहा कि “एक बच्चा–एक पौधा” केवल एक अभियान नहीं, बल्कि आने वाली पीढ़ियों के लिए स्वच्छ, हरित और सुरक्षित भविष्य सुनिश्चित करने का जनसंकल्प है।
उल्लेखनीय है कि वन महोत्सव के अंतर्गत विद्यालय परिसर में कुल 2,000 पौधे लगाने का लक्ष्य निर्धारित किया गया है। इसी क्रम में आज आयोजित कार्यक्रम के दौरान लगभग 600 पौधों का रोपण किया गया, जिनमें पिलखन, अशोक, इंडियन विलो तथा निर्गुंडी जैसी प्रजातियाँ शामिल हैं। शेष लगभग 1,400 पौधों का रोपण आगामी दिनों में चरणबद्ध तरीके से किया जाएगा। कार्यक्रम के दौरान विद्यालय में कब-बुलबुल, स्काउट एवं गाइड की आकर्षक प्रस्तुतियाँ, पौधारोपण, गीत, समूहगान, भरतनाट्यम, लघु नाटिका, समूह नृत्य, वाद्य यंत्र प्रस्तुति, पर्यावरण विषयक छात्र भाषण तथा पुरस्कार वितरण जैसे विविध सांस्कृतिक एवं शैक्षिक कार्यक्रम आयोजित किए गए।
