The Monsoon Session of Parliament 2026, beginning on July 20, will witness the introduction of five important Bills aimed at strengthening India’s economy, governance, and judicial system. The proposed legislations cover income tax reforms, MSME development, judicial expansion, birth registration procedures, and protection of national honour.
Among the key measures is the Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which seeks to replace an earlier ordinance issued to strengthen India’s sovereign debt market, attract foreign capital, and improve market liquidity. The measure also supports the government’s efforts to stabilise the rupee amid global geopolitical uncertainties and volatile financial conditions.
The government will also table the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which focuses on ease of doing business, trust-based regulation, stronger mechanisms for resolving delayed payments, and enhanced powers for state governments to support the MSME sector.
Another significant proposal is the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026, which aims to increase the sanctioned strength of Supreme Court judges from 33 to 37, excluding the Chief Justice of India. The move is expected to help reduce case pendency and ensure faster delivery of justice.
The legislative agenda also includes the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which proposes stricter provisions for delayed registrations, and the Prevention of Insults to National Honour (Amendment) Bill, 2026, aimed at strengthening legal action against disrespect to national symbols. Parliament will also take up the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026 and the Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill, 2025, alongside discussions on supplementary grants and other parliamentary business.
