Neyveli, March 10: Marking International Women’s Day 2026, NLC India Limited Chairman and Managing Director Prasanna Kumar Motupalli distributed tailoring machines to 20 women beneficiaries who completed a 90-day skill development programme in tailoring and Aari embroidery.
The initiative, organised by the Neyveli Automobile Association at Sneha Opportunity School, aims to promote women entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods in the Neyveli region.
The event was attended by Samir Swarup, Director (HR), NLCIL; B. Govindarajan, Chief General Manager, NLCIL and President of the Neyveli Automobile Association; B. Vaidyanathan, Chief General Manager, NLCIL and Vice President of Sneha Opportunity Services; and T. V. Sivaprasad, Secretary of the association.
Speaking on the occasion, Prasanna Kumar Motupalli appreciated the initiative for creating livelihood opportunities for women, particularly those from project-affected families and economically vulnerable backgrounds.
The programme, launched on Vishwakarma Diwas, provided intensive training to women including 12 from project-affected families, five from nearby villages and three widowed women, enabling them to start independent income-generating activities.
As part of the event, the CMD also laid the foundation stone for the renovation of the Sneha School open auditorium, a project estimated at ₹23 lakh, which will include a 100-seat hall, stage, green room and upgraded facilities.
To support long-term entrepreneurship, the Neyveli Automobile Association is collaborating with StartupTN to provide incubation support, enabling beneficiaries to establish micro and small enterprises or operate as independent entrepreneurs.
The initiative aligns with the broader vision of women-led development championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and supported by G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister for Coal and Mines, aimed at strengthening women’s economic participation in building a Viksit Bharat.
