CUDDALORE Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) has recorded a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 309.47 crore for the third quarter ended December 2014, which is Rs 50.12 crore more than the second quarter net profit of Rs 259.35 crore.
The public sector power generation company’s total income from operations during the Q3 period rose to Rs 1,492.65 crore, which is Rs 90.16 crore more than the second quarter of current financial year (Rs 1,402.49 crore).
NLC chairman B Surender Mohan, in a statement, said, “NLC forges ahead in all fronts and with its expansion activities the company is poised for substantial growth in the years to come.”
The company is implementing an expansion plan of 4,301 MW generation by the end of the 12th Plan and 1,1206 MW by the end of 13th Plan (including its subsidiaries) from its present capacity of 2,740 MW.
For the quarter under review, NLC mines have produced 53.33 lakh tonnes of lignite. Its power stations have generated 4,187.86 million units and exported 3,516.34 MU.
The net sales for April 2014 to December 2014 was pegged at Rs 4,405.59 crore as compared to Rs 4,257.34 crore for the corresponding period in the previous year 2013-14.
Currently, NLC operates three opencast lignite mines at Neyveli and one at Barsingsar, Rajasthan with a total capacity of 30.60 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) The three thermal power stations at Neyveli and one at Barsingsar have a total installed capacity of 2,740 MW.
