New Delhi, Feb 08 The upcoming India AI Impact Summit will bring together governments, innovators and citizens to advance an inclusive and responsible artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem, according to Abhishek Singh, CEO of the IndiaAI Mission. The Summit will be held in New Delhi on February 19–20.
Moving from AI Intent to Impact
Speaking at the latest episode of Digital India – Ask Our Experts, Abhishek Singh said the Summit aims to shift the global AI conversation from policy intent to measurable, on-ground impact. He described the forum as a people-centric platform that goes beyond technical deliberations to focus on practical adoption of AI across education, healthcare, agriculture, governance, startups, services and employment.
“Artificial Intelligence is not meant to replace people; it is meant to empower them,” Singh said, adding that the initiative is designed to help citizens leverage AI to improve daily life and unlock new opportunities.
Focus on Global South and Inclusive Access
Singh emphasised that India is positioning the Summit as a platform to ensure AI innovation, skills and benefits are accessible to all — particularly developing nations and countries of the Global South. The event seeks to translate global AI discussions into implementable solutions tailored for emerging economies.
Sectoral Use Cases and Economic Opportunity
Highlighting practical applications, Singh said AI can assist farmers in crop planning, enable faster and more accurate medical diagnoses, support teachers with personalised learning tools, and help startups and small businesses scale more efficiently. He also noted that AI can guide job seekers towards emerging career pathways and skill requirements.
Addressing Job Concerns and Skill Transition
Addressing fears around automation-led job losses, Singh clarified that AI is expected to augment human capability rather than replace it. While certain roles may evolve, AI adoption is likely to create new employment opportunities, skills and entrepreneurial avenues, particularly for India’s youth, professionals and researchers. He encouraged citizens to prioritise continuous learning, adaptability and AI literacy.
Public Participation Key to AI Adoption
Calling for active public engagement, Singh said India’s AI journey will succeed only when citizens understand, trust and use AI responsibly. The Summit will showcase practical use cases demonstrating how AI can drive inclusion, efficiency and empowerment — positioning technology as a development enabler rather than merely an automation tool.
