Canada India AI Ties in Focus During Evan Solomon Visit

New Delhi, Feb 18 Evan Solomon, Canada’s Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation, will visit New Delhi from February 18–21, 2026, to advance Canada’s strategic interests in artificial intelligence (AI) and deepen bilateral technology cooperation with India.

During his visit, Minister Solomon will engage with senior Indian government officials, including Ashwini Vaishnaw, India’s Minister for Railways; Information and Broadcasting; and Electronics and Information Technology. He will also meet leaders from prominent Indian and multinational technology companies to expand collaboration in emerging technologies.

Focus on AI, Semiconductors and Digital Infrastructure

Discussions are expected to centre on:

  • Artificial intelligence and responsible AI development
  • Digital infrastructure and digital solutions
  • Semiconductors and electronics manufacturing
  • Workforce training in advanced digital technologies

Minister Solomon will attend the India AI Impact Summit 2026 and deliver remarks at the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) Council Meeting, where global policymakers and industry leaders will collaborate on shaping frameworks for responsible AI deployment.

Strengthening Canada–India AI Collaboration

The visit underscores Canada’s efforts to position itself as a global AI leader while fostering deeper engagement with India’s rapidly expanding digital economy.

Highlighting Canada’s strengths in AI research and innovation, Solomon said the country’s leadership stems from its top talent, cutting-edge research institutions, and dynamic innovation ecosystem.

“This visit places Canada’s AI strengths at the forefront—creating new opportunities for joint research, investment, and real-world solutions with the Republic of India,” Solomon said. “By deepening collaboration in digital technologies, especially AI, we are laying the foundation for a stronger future with meaningful progress and shared economic benefits.”

The visit signals growing Canada–India cooperation in AI, digital transformation, and technology-driven economic growth.
