Blowout in Gas Well of Oil India Limited at Baghjan, Tinsukia District, Assam

Highlight:OIL will be providing an amount of Rs,30,00.00/ (Rupees Thirty Thousand) to each of the impacted families as an immediate relief. The detailed beneficiary list with name and bank account details will be prepared by District  Administration.

This was decide at a tripartite meeting held today at the office of the Deputy Commissioner,Tinsukiawith the representatives of BaghjanGaon Milan Jyoti YuvaSangha and OIL team led by Shri Biswajit Roy, Director, (HR&BD).

Operational Activities at Well No. Baghjan-5

Singapore based firm “M/s Alert Disaster Control” will reach Duliajan, late evening on 7th June, 2020.  The delay in their arrival is due to COVID related clearances at Singapore. The following is the latest communication from Michael E. Allcorn – Managing Director,Alert Disaster Control (Asia) Pte. Ltd:

To ensure clarity within my previous email, please note that upon assessment of the unique circumstances of the Oil India well control incident and the critical importance of our mobilization clearance, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore has issued a one-time ‘exceptional clearance’ for the charter aircraft arrival and immediate departure from Singapore and the corresponding arrival of the ALERT Advance team to Guwahati, Assam, India on Sunday, 07 June 2020 at approximately 14:00 hrs.”

  • The followingItems like Breathing Air Cascade & H2S Detection etc. required for blow-out control activities are beingmobilized.
  • All Safety and security measures are continuously being monitored to protect surrounding villagers and their properties, working teams. Protection of the environment would be paramount while carrying out the Well Control Operation.
  • Sri Amar Nath, IAS, Joint Secretary MOPNG inspected DibruSaikhowa National Park along with DFO(Wild Life),Tinsukia on 04-06-2020 and interacted with concerned officials ofOIL in the presence of senior officials of Forest department and Shri Sanjoy Kishan, Minister, Tea Tribes Welfare (Independent)Government of Assam .
  • Operational activities was affected by protests staged by local people in front of Baghjan EPS (Early Production Set-up) installation. The bandh has been withdrawn after today’s meeting at DC’s office.
