88 Countries, International Organisations Endorse New Delhi Declaration on AI

AI Impact Summit 2026 Adopts New Delhi Declaration

New Delhi, Feb 21: The ‘AI Impact Summit 2026’ concluded on Saturday with the adoption of the New Delhi Declaration on AI Impact, endorsed by 88 countries and international organisations, signalling a significant step toward structured global cooperation on artificial intelligence.

The Declaration outlines a shared international framework to harness AI for economic growth and social good, anchored in the principle of equitable access and inclusive development.

Guided by the philosophy of “Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaya” (Welfare for all, Happiness for all), it calls for ensuring that AI benefits are broadly distributed across nations and communities.

The document is structured around seven strategic pillars: democratising AI resources; advancing economic growth and social good; building secure and trusted AI; promoting AI for science; expanding access for social empowerment; strengthening human capital; and developing resilient, efficient and innovative AI systems.

It emphasises the importance of robust digital infrastructure, affordable connectivity and energy-efficient AI ecosystems as prerequisites for large-scale deployment. The Declaration also underscores respect for national sovereignty, multi-stakeholder engagement and voluntary, non-binding international cooperation frameworks.
