Vaduvur Kabadi Team won the NLC India Invitation Cup

Shri P.Selvakumar, Director (Planning & Projects), NLCIL with the players of the Vaduvur Kabadi Team of Tiruvarur District who won the NLC India Invitation Cup for the State Level Rural Kabadi Tournament held at Neyveli. Also seen are Shri R.Mohan, CGM/CSR, Education, Sports, Shri I.Nedumaran, DGM/Education & Sports, Shri K.Murugan, CM/Sports, NLCIL, Shri R.Raja Rajendran, Organising Secretary, Tamil Nadu Amateur Association (TAKA) and the officials of the TAKA.

NLC India Invitation Cup Rural Kabaddi tournament (State level) was held at Neyveli from 8th to 10th March 2018. Twelve rural teams from various districts participated in the tournament. The following four teams entered the Semi –finals.

  1. SAI- Mayiladuthurai
  2. Vanavil-Perambalur
  3. Nagapattinam
  4. Vaduvur Sports Academy
  • In the Semi-finals Vanavil-Perambalur defeated SAI –Mayiladuthurai whereas Vaduvur Sports Academy defeated Nagapattinam.
  • In the finals, held between Vaduvur Sports Academy and Vanavil-Perambalur Kabaddi teams, both the teams were tied with equal points (31 points). In the tie breakers, Vaduvur Sports Academy defeated Vanavil-Perambalur and bagged the NLC India Invitation  trophy and a Cash award of Rs.30,000/-
  • Vanavil-Perambalur received a cash award for Rs.25,000/-as second prize along with runner’s trophy
  • SAI- Mayiladuthurai and Nagapattinam got Joint third and received Cash awards of Rs.20,000/- each and trophies.
  • Best Raider Trophy was won by Shri.S.Selvakumar, Vanavil Kabaddi team -Perambalur
  • Best Defender Trophy was won by Shri. R.Aravind of Vaduvur Sports Academy
  • Best All Rounder Trophy was won by Shri. R.Subramaniyam of Vaduvur Sports academy

The Semi-final and Finals matches were played in the midst of large number of spectators on 10th March 2018 (Saturday evening.)

Shri.P.Selvakumar, Director (Planning & Projects), NLCIL, the Chief Guest of the function addressed the gathering and spoke on the origin and popularity of the Kabaddi. Cash Awards and Trophies to the top four teams were presented by the Chief Guest. Earlier Shri.R.Mohan, CGM/CSR/Edn., Sports & Culture presided over the function. Shri.R.Raja.Ragendran, Organising Secretary, Tamilnadu Amateur Kabaddi Association also spoke on the occasion.
