Tokyo/New Delhi, Feb 27: Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday signed an MoU with Yamanashi Prefecture to collaborate on green hydrogen technology, marking a significant step in India-Japan clean energy cooperation.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the agreement will enable students from higher technical institutions in Uttar Pradesh to receive specialised training in Japan, while facilitating the adoption of green hydrogen technology across the state’s industrial, public transport and energy sectors.
He noted that the initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Net Zero target.
During the ‘UP Investment Road Show’ in Yamanashi, the Chief Minister highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s shift from “reactive to proactive” governance and showcased its investment potential to global industry leaders. He also announced budgetary provisions for establishing a Centre of Excellence for Robotics, calling robotics a key future technology.
CM Yogi emphasised the state’s demographic strength, fertile land, abundant water resources and expanding industrial ecosystem, inviting global investors to explore opportunities.
He added that sustained dialogue since the Yamanashi Governor’s visit to Uttar Pradesh in December 2024 has strengthened bilateral cooperation, culminating in the green hydrogen partnership.
