Gurugram, June 03 To spread awareness on cleanliness as part of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ and to reiterate its dedication towards the Government of India’s mission for Swachh Bharat, REC Limited, a Navratna public infrastructure finance company under the Ministry of Power celebrated “Swachhta Pakhwada” across all its offices from 16th – 31st May, 2022. Various activities were conducted during the fortnight.
The Pakhwada kicked off with employees taking the Swachhta Pledge. In line with “Digital India” initiative, the pledge was administered paperless using electronic media/devices. Cleanliness, sanitization and fogging activities were undertaken at the offices as well as in various ‘slum’ areas across the country during the fortnight. To engage the employees of the regional offices, an inter-office competition was conducted wherein offices were the offices that conducted the most innovative swachhta activities were awarded. In order to make the general public aware about the significance of the Pakhwada and to sensitize them about cleanliness and hygiene at work place and surrounding areas, physical banners and hoardings were place at prominent locations, and posts, photos and videos were regularly uploaded on the social media handles of REC. Weeding out and digitization of old records, files etc. was also undertaken as part of the Pakhwada observance.
A Valedictory/culmination ceremony was organized on June 02, 2022 with Vivek Kumar Dewangan, CMD, REC presiding over the function, who urged all employees to “ensure that swachhata goes beyond the pakhwada and becomes an integral part of our daily lives”. Dr. Lily Gupta, Vice Chairperson, Sulabh International was the chief guest at the event and motivated the employees with the inspirational story of their organization. The event concluded with a theatrical performance on the importance of waste segregation.
The was launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 2nd October, 2014 to urge people to fulfill Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean India, by his 150th birth anniversary in 2019.
