Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched several new development works in Chandigarh today. The new projects cover hospital upgrades, new schools, and better roads. These works cost more than 4,700 crore rupees in total.
New healthcare services at PGI Chandigarh
Modi started many new medical facilities at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, which people call PGI. These additions will help millions of patients from nearby areas. The new buildings include an Advanced Neurosciences Centre and an Advanced Mother and Child Centre. PGI also got a new 150-bed Critical Care Block to handle emergencies and serious illnesses much better.
The Prime Minister talked about his own history with the city. He said he used to visit PGI often when he lived in Chandigarh. Many people from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir travel to this hospital for treatment. The new centers will offer top-quality care under one roof.
Better roads to reduce traffic jams
The government is also building better roads to make travel easier. Modi opened a new six-lane highway that runs from IT City to Kurali. This road will stop heavy traffic from blocking the busy airport road. It will also save travel time for people living in Mohali and Kharar.
The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for another road project called the PR-7 Spur. This new road connects the Ambala-Chandigarh highway directly to Aerocity. It allows long-distance travelers to bypass Zirakpur completely, which will reduce daily traffic jams in the town.
First hydrogen train starts service
Modi also spoke about other big projects in nearby states. He highlighted the launch of India’s very first hydrogen-powered passenger train. This clean train runs on the Jind-Sonipat route in Haryana. The train uses modern hydrogen fuel cells, so it does not pollute the air and only releases water vapor.
Modi said the government wants to build modern systems that help people today and protect future generations too. These new projects will help local businesses grow and make daily life much easier for the public.
