PM Modi to Inaugurate State-of-the-Art Navi Mumbai International Airport

New Delhi, Oct 07: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Navi Mumbai International Airport on October 8.

This airport, a Public-Private Partnership between Mumbai International Airport Ltd (74% stake) and CIDCO (26% stake), will be Mumbai’s second international airport, following Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

It has received its aerodrome licence and is designed to accommodate both domestic and international passengers, featuring a 3,700-metre runway, modern terminals, and advanced air traffic control systems.

The airport aims to handle 2 crore passengers annually and improve air traffic capacity in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, with initial domestic flights announced by airlines including IndiGo and Air India Express.

It will also have a fully automated cargo terminal, with future expansions planned to serve 90 million passengers and manage over 3.2 million metric tonnes of cargo annually, occupying 1,160 hectares and developed in phases.
