New Delhi, Feb 25: Narendra Modi will undertake an official visit to Israel on Wednesday, aimed at deepening the India–Israel Strategic Partnership across defence, security, trade, innovation, and technology.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), this will be the Prime Minister’s second visit to Israel.
During the visit, he will hold talks with Benjamin Netanyahu to review progress in bilateral ties and explore new avenues of cooperation in science and technology, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, agriculture, water management, trade, and people-to-people exchanges. PM Modi is also scheduled to call on President Isaac Herzog.
FTA Talks Gain Momentum
The visit coincides with the first round of negotiations for the proposed India–Israel Free Trade Agreement (FTA), currently underway in New Delhi and scheduled to continue until February 26, as announced by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The Terms of Reference (ToR) for the FTA were signed in November 2025, establishing a structured framework to expand trade and economic engagement. The agreement is expected to enhance business certainty and open new opportunities for enterprises, including micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
