Oil India Limited adopts ITI, Lahowal


Duliajan, February 3rd, 2021:Oil India Limited (OIL), India’s second largest National Exploration & Production Company, adopts ITI, Lahowal as a centre of excellence under OIL’s CSR. MoU between OIL and Directorate of Employment & Craftsmen Training (DECT), Assam Government was signed on 2nd February 2021 in presence of Shri Chandra Mohan Patowary, Hon’ble Minister of Transport, Parliamentary Affairs, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship,Industry and Commerce, Government of Assam and Dr K KDwivedi, IAS Principal Secretary to the Government of Assam, Department of Industries & Commerce at Office of the Minister at Secretariat, Dispur.

Shri Prasanta Borkakoty, Executive Director(HR&A) signed the MoU for OIL while Mrs Ruby Sarmah, Director, DECT signed on behalf of Government of Assam.Shri Tridiv Hazarika, DGM(CSR&CC), OIL and senior officials from DECT were also present in the MoU signing ceremony.

The Government of Assam has already built the infrastructure, however the ITI is yet to be operational. As per the MoU, an Institute Management Committee (IMC) will be formed headed by a representative from OIL as the Chairman to ensure that the institute is operational at the earliest. OIL will extend all necessary support to the Lahowal ITI for transforming it to a Centre of Excellence.
