Noida, 27 Sept 2025: Oil India Limited (OIL) has announced the discovery of natural gas at its exploratory well, Vijayapuram-2, in Offshore Andaman Block AN-OSHP-2018/1.
Preliminary analysis of gas samples confirms the presence of natural gas, with further studies underway to investigate its origins.
This discovery marks the first hydrocarbon occurrence during the current exploration campaign in the Andaman Shallow Offshore Block, prompting OIL to inform its stakeholders.
Additional testing of higher-up prospects is also planned to evaluate the gas occurrence further.
