New Delhi, Dec 19: NTPC (National Thermal Power Corporation), a government-owned power company, has increased its commercial capacity by 359.58 MW through solar projects in Gujarat and Rajasthan, surpassing a total capacity of 85.5 GW.
The additional capacity includes 243.66 MW from the Khavda -1 Solar PV project, 78 MW from the Nokh Sokar PV project, and 37.925 MW from the Khavda Solar Energy Project. Currently, NTPC’s total installed capacity stands at 85,541 MW, providing one-fourth of India’s power needs, with further additions of 30.90 GW underway, including renewable projects.
The company aims for 60 GW of renewable energy by 2032 to support India’s Net Zero targets. NTPC is diversifying into areas such as e-mobility, battery storage, and waste-to-energy while continuing to focus on reliable and sustainable electricity generation.
Furthermore, the company recently held its 18th lenders’ meet to discuss financial performance and future growth, attended by top executives and representatives from various financial institutions.
