A new Bucket Wheel Excavator of 700 Litre capacity was put into operation at Mine-II on 01.01.2018 which was commissioned by Shri Susheel Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Coal, Government of India.
The Bucket Wheel Excavator of 700 Litre capacity on turnkey basis was erected and supplied by M/s. TENOVA India Pvt. Limited, Chennai at a cost of Rs.68 Crore. The work order, for supply of this Specialized Mining Equipment was issued by NLC India Limited on 17.07.2015. The supply includes Design, Manufacture, Assembly/Erection of all Mechanical, Structural, Electrical components, Testing, Commissioning and handing over. The machine was commissioned by Shri Susheel Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Coal, Government of India, in a simple function held at Mine-II on 01.01.2018. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Susheel Kumar, said, besides reaching of target and carrying out the work in time, it is more important that all the work should be accomplished, without any incident of accident.
Though the contract period was fixed for 36 months from the date of issue of work order, it was commissioned 5 months ahead of the scheduled date. All the main structural components of the equipment are indigenously manufactured, which is a noteworthy. This machine has capacity to give output of 1400 Cubic Meter per Hour.
On this occasion, Dr. Sarat Kumar Acharya, CMD, NLC India Limited, Directors, Shri Rakesh Kumar, Shri Subir Das, Shri. P. Selvakumar, Shri V. Thangapandian, Shri R. Vikraman, Chief Vigilance Officer- Shri T. Venkatasubramanian, together with Senior officials, representatives of Associations and Unions were present.
