Shri V. Thangapandian Director (Power) of NLC India Limited, today paid mark of respect to ‘Father of the Nation’ Mahatma Gandhi, on the occasion of his 149th Birth Anniversary, by garlanding the Statue at Township Administrative Office, Block-10, on 02.10.2018 and Raghupathi Raghva Rajaram was recited by women folk.
NLC India Limited, commemorated the 149th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and paid tribute to the Father of the Nation and organised cleanliness drives in response to our Hon’ble Prime Minister’s Cleanliness call “Swachhta Hi Seva” from 15th September 2018 to 2nd October 2019 to promote ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, to make people aware about the advantages of cleanliness. To mark Gandhi Jayanthi, NLC India organized a Cleanliness Drive wherein, employees, members of WIPS, members of Ladies Club, Members of Cultural Associations, Students and Senior Officials participated at Main Bazaar, Neyveli.
To celebrate Gandhi Jayanthi a function was organized at Learning & Development Center, where representative of various cultural associations performed cultural activities by depicting the great Soul, Mahatma Gandhi ji, which very much gripped the audience. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Thangapandian, Director (Power) said Gandhi ji was a man of true words, a great leader, and a true fighter who set an example of simple living and high thinking for us. Non-violence, truth, inspiration, sacrifice great leadership are his qualities. He adopted nation as his own family and worked for their welfare. He appealed every individual to take motivation from Gandhi Ji and thus everyone has to feel nation as their own family and work for the betterment of society.
The Cultural programme on the theme “Teaching & preaching of Gandhi” was performed by various cultural & linguistic associations. On this occasion, few lines from Holy Book of Bagawad Gita, Bible, Quran, Thirukural and The Naladiyar were highlighted by the representatives of Ramakrishna Seva Sangham, Indian Christian Cultural Association, Neyveli Muslim Jamath and NLCIL Schools. During the occasion, a special School Kits were presented to deprived school students by Smt Kanchan Rakeshkumar, the President and patrons of Neyveli Ladies Club. In connection with the event, a samabandhi bhojan was arranged at Villudaiyanapattu Murugan Temple, Neyveli.
On this occasion, the Director HR of NLC India Limited Shri R. Vikraman along with Executive Directors, Senior Officials graced the ocassion. Besides School & College Students, Senior Officials, Employees and representatives of various unions and associations participated in large number. As part of Swachh ta hi Seva, NLCIL management organized mass tree plantation at Iruppu, a periphery village wherein Shri R.Vikraman, Director, HR participated.
