NLC INDIA LIMITED DISTRIBUTES ARTIFICIAL LIMBS AND ASSISTIVE DEVICES TO PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

New Delhi, Feb 03: NLC India Limited distributed artificial limbs and assistive devices to needy beneficiaries with Disabilities (Divyangjans) in Cuddalore District of Tamil Nadu through the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) today, on 01.02.2025 at Neyveli.

NLC India Limited (NLCIL), in line with fulfilling the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat, as part of its ongoing community development activities in Cuddalore district, had inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 06.09.2024 with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India Limited (ALIMCO) for the distribution of artificial limbs and assistive devices to people with disabilities in Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, at a project cost of Rs.1.08 Crore, under its CSR initiatives.The project has since been further extended to NLCIL’s Barsingsar Unit in Rajasthan and Talabira project areas of Jharsuguda and Sambalpur Districts in Odissa.

ALIMCO, a“Miniratna” CPSE, functioning under the aegis of Department of Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, is engaged in manufacturing various types of assistive devices and appliances to meet the requirements of persons with disabilities (Divyangjans), across the country.

ALIMCO conducted assessment camps during December 2024 and identified 390 beneficiaries during the assessment camps at Kurinjipadi and Veppankurchi areas ofCuddalore District.

At a function held in Neyveli, Samir Swarup, Director (HR), NLCIL, distributed the assistive devices viz., Walkers, Battery Operated Motorised Tricycle, Conventional Hand Propelled Tricycle and Foldable Wheel Chairs to the needy beneficiaries in the presence of DVS Narayana Murthy, Executive Director, Legal, CSR & Medical Branch, Sukumar, CGS/ Medical, Srinivasa Babu, GM/CSR and S.Babu, District Welfare Officer for differently abled,Cuddalore District of Tamil Nadu.

Speaking on the occasion, Samir Swarup requested the beneficiaries to make use of the assistive devices and artificial limbs provided under this project effectively and wished them to prosper in their future endeavours with good health.
