Faridabad, Nov 10 NHPC Limited, India’s premier hydropower company celebrated its 45th Raising Day on 7th November 2019 at Weightlifting Auditorium, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at New Delhi with great enthusiasm and fervour. R.K. Singh, Union Minister of State (I/c), Ministry of Power, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and Minister of State, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
In his address, the Hon’ble Minister extended his warmest greeting to everyone present on the occasion of NHPC Raising Day. Minister lauded NHPC for its performance, efficiency and profitability. He further highlighted that hydro power is a clean and green source of power and is critical for future of the country’s energy mix. Balraj Joshi, Chairman and Managing Director, NHPC gave a presentation on the recent achievements of NHPC including its installed capacity, achievements in capacity addition, CSR initiatives etc. CMD informed that today NHPC had 24 power stations having a total installed capacity of 7071.2 MW including 1 solar and 1 window power station and projects of 4924 MW installed capacity under construction.
The function was also graced by Sanjiv Nandan Sahai, Secretary (Power), Government of India and Aniruddha Kumar, Joint Secretary (Hydro), Ministry of Power and senior NHPC officers including Ratish Kumar, Director (Projects), M.K. Mittal, Director (Finance), Janardhan Chaudhary, Director (Technical), Prof. Kanika T. Bahl, Independent Director, NHPC and Bhagwat Prasad Makwana, Independent Director, NHPC along with other invited dignitaries.
During the celebrations, winners of NHPC Awards Scheme (2018-19) under various categories as Best Power Station, Best Construction Project, Exemplary Commitment, Star of NHPC and Star student for Class X and Class XII were awarded.
Ratish Kumar, Director (Projects) NHPC proposed vote of thanks and acknowledged the contributions of all employees towards taking NHPC to great heights.
A special highlight of the evening was a grand cultural programme featuring renowned Sufi singers Jyoti Nooran and Sultana Nooran. A colourful folk song and dance performance was also made by artists from Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh that greatly enthralled the audience. Renowned poet Surender Kumar Sharma also entertained the audience during the ceremony.
