New Delhi, March 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with Chief Ministers via video conferencing to review state-level preparedness in response to the escalating crisis in West Asia.
The meeting aims to ensure coordinated action under the “Team India” approach, focusing on aligning efforts between the Centre and states to manage potential economic and security impacts arising from the conflict.
The discussion is expected to cover contingency planning across critical sectors, including fuel supply, logistics, fertilisers, and essential commodities, as geopolitical tensions continue to disrupt global trade routes and supply chains.
Chief Ministers of election-bound states will not participate due to the model code of conduct, with a separate बैठक planned for Chief Secretaries through the Cabinet Secretariat.
The बैठक follows a recent all-party meeting held at the Parliament of India, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, where the government briefed political leaders on the evolving situation. Senior ministers including Amit Shah, S. Jaishankar, Hardeep Singh Puri, and Kiren Rijiju participated.
Earlier, the government announced the formation of seven empowered groups to formulate strategies across key areas such as fuel, supply chains, and fertilisers to mitigate the impact of the ongoing Iran–Israel–US conflict.
With tensions in the region affecting maritime corridors and raising concerns over the safety of Indian nationals in Gulf countries, the meeting is expected to play a crucial role in building consensus and strengthening India’s coordinated response framework.
