New Delhi, Sept 18: MOIL, India’s largest manganese ore producer, has dispatched its inaugural shipment of 54,600 tonnes of manganese ore fines from Visakhapatnam to Indonesia, marking a significant milestone in the company’s exports.
The government has designated MOIL as a State Trading Enterprise (STE) for exporting manganese ore with less than 46% manganese content.
This export of low-grade manganese ore is crucial as India possesses a surplus of such material exceeding domestic demand, which will enhance India’s global presence and foreign earnings.
MOIL achieved strong production and sales figures in August 2025, with production up 17% and sales up 25.6% year-on-year. The company also recorded its best-ever performance in production for April-August 2025, with a 9.3% year-on-year increase, and its best-ever exploratory core drilling during the same period.
