Mobile App Launched for Rural Electrification Monitoring


A workshop wasorganized on 14th October 2015 at VigyanBhawanby REC for sensitizing the Gram VidyutAbhiyantas (GVAs) of their Roles, Responsibilities, Functions and Reporting system at the field level through RECPDCL a subsidiary of REC Ltd.

On this event Mobile App was launched by PiyushGoyal, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy for uploading of progress along with photographs etc. from field by the GVAs. On this occasion Minister also released A ‘Handbook’ for GVAs containing necessary details.

The ‘GrameenVidyutikaran’ Mobile App can be downloaded from the ‘Google Play Store’. Ministry of Power has taken up village electrification programme on Mission mode under the flagship scheme of Government of India ‘DeenDayalUpadhyaya Gram JyotiYojana’ (DDUGJY). Ministry of Power has chalked out a comprehensive action plan in consultation with States for electrification of all remaining un-electrified villages.

Hon’ble Minister also interacted with State Energy Secretaries through video conferencing and urgedthemto avail maximum benefit through the GVA &Mobile-App arrangement and to extend all cooperation in this regard.He reiterated the resolve of the Government of India to achieve electrification of all un-electrified villages in the country within the timeframe and covering access to all rural households. Further, he solicited the support of the States towards achieving this goal for bringing overall development in rural areas. Secretary Power also interacted with GVAs and urged them to put forward their best foot for achieving the targets. He mentioned that rural electrification is on his dashboard and he is monitoring the progress on daily basis.
