New Delhi, Dec 23: Manohar Lal, Union Minister of Power, inaugurated the commercial operation of Unit–2 (250 MW) of the Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project, underscoring its significance for India’s clean energy commitments and regional development in North-East India.
The project comprises eight units of 250 MW each and is poised to enhance the national grid’s resilience while contributing to Net Zero goals. Key officials praised the project’s role in improving energy supply and socio-economic benefits for local communities, including job creation and support for local industries.
The project also includes multiple community development initiatives, enhancing regional infrastructure and promoting sustainable practices, with NHPC investing heavily in CSR across the states involved. With its innovative engineering, the Subansiri Project is set to play a crucial role in India’s renewable energy landscape.
