Macron Says Rafale Deal Strengthens ‘Make in India’ Collaboration with India

Macron Highlights ‘Make in India’ in Rafale, Tata-Airbus and Defence Cooperation with India

New Delhi, Feb 19: French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday underscored France’s commitment to India’s defence and manufacturing ecosystem, highlighting collaborations across Rafale fighter jets, submarines, and the Tata-Airbus H125 helicopter programme.

Speaking on the sidelines of the India AI Impact Summit, Macron emphasised ‘Make in India’ as central to the bilateral relationship, noting that most of India’s newly approved 114 Rafale jets will be manufactured domestically.

He added that expanding indigenous production in engines, helicopters, and maintenance capabilities strengthens India’s strategic autonomy, generates jobs, and deepens the partnership.

Macron highlighted Tata Advanced Systems Limited’s inauguration of India’s first private-sector helicopter Final Assembly Line for Airbus H125 helicopters at Vemagal, Karnataka, virtually inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi and Macron.

The French President also invited PM Modi to visit France in June as special guest of the G7 Summit in his BRICS presidency role, reinforcing a broader global strategic partnership. Macron described the relationship as expanding across defence, innovation, research, and creative industries, reflecting growing collaboration between India and France.
