KOLANJIAPPAR GOVT. ARTS COLLEGE , VRIDHACHALAM GETS MULTI PURPOSE AUDITORIUM BUILT BY NLCIL AS PART OF ITS CSR INITIATIVE

During the inauguration of the auditorium constructed through the CSR initiatives of NLCIL at Kolanjiappar Govt. Arts College, Vridhachalam, today (17-02-2020)  Shri V. Anbuselvan, Collector, Cuddalore District praised NLCIL for joining hands with the district administration in developing the economic status of the Cuddalore District.

NLCIL takes part in the infrastructural development works of Cuddalore District by augmenting measures for safe drinking water supply, by drilling bore wells, desilting community ponds, lakes, laying roads, providing various facilities to schools and colleges, medical facilities and various social welfare measures as part of CSR projects.

One such welfare measure,  is the construction of an auditorium at the Kolanjiappar Govt. Arts College, Vridhachalam at a cost of Rs.1.12 crore. The auditorium  was inaugurated by     Shri V. Anbuselvan, Collector, in the presence of Shri R.Vikraman, Director (HR, NLCIL, today (17.02.2020).  The multipurpose auditorium has the  seating capacity of about 400 with a plinth area of around 8000 sq.ft. and named as Thiruvalluvar Kalaiarangam.  A well equipped stage, electrical system, false ceiling NCL windows, toilets are some special features of the building.

While addressing, Shri R. Vikraman, Director(HR) informed that NLCIL is now concentrating on the developmental works in the fields of Education, Public Health and augmentation of water resources through its CSR initiatives.  Though the CSR concept was embedded only now in the in the Companies Act  2013, it has been effectively practiced by NLCIL long ago since its inception.

Shri Anbuselvan, Collector, Cuddalore District, in his address appreciated that as Cuddalore District is prone to natural disasters, like cyclones,  flood, etc.,. NLCIL is extending greater help to the district administration including by strengthening the bunds of water resources and rivers thereby reducing the impact of the natural disasters. He  appealed to the college students, to qualify, develop and upgrade themselves to improve their employability.

Shri V.T. Kalaiselvan, MLA of Virdhachalam Constituency, Dr. G. Rajavelu, Principal and Dr. Sivakumar, Professor of Tamil Department of the college spoke on the occasion.      Shri Praveenkumar, Sub-Collector, Virdhachalam, Shri R. Mohan, CGM/CSR/NLCIL, Shri Elangovan, DSP, Virdhachalam, Professors of the college, officials from NLCIL, officers from various departments of the State Govt. and thousands of students participated in the function.

Shri R. Vikraman,  inaugurated 2.25 Kms Vridhachalam – Pudukuraipettai Road laid at the cost of Rs.198 lakhs. He also inaugurated the R.O. Water Purifying  Plant, installed by NLCIL at  Government Hospital, Virdhachalam.  This plant can yield 1000 litres of purified drinking water per hour to the patients and visiting population.

Later, Shri R. Vikraman, Director (HR) also inaugurated the  solar powered pump installed at the desilted  Kuppanatham village lake.  As a water augmentation initiative, NLCIL has desilted 19 lakes in Cuddalore District and installed Solar Powered Pumps in them. Kuppanatham village lake is one among them.  The lake was earlier desilted and 141 metres depth bore well was drilled and a 10 HP submersible solar powered pump was installed.   This motor will be energized by the solar power generated in the spot itself.  In order to cater to this requirement, 34 solar panels each of 300 Watts capacity were erected here.  Shri V. T. Kalaisevan, MLA of the Constituency participated in all the functions.
