India, Seychelles Review Cooperation as PM Modi Meets President Herminie

New Delhi, Feb 9 Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday held delegation-level talks with Seychelles President Patrick Herminie at Hyderabad House, focusing on strengthening bilateral ties and maritime cooperation.

Earlier, President Herminie paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat. The Ministry of External Affairs said Gandhiji’s enduring ideals continue to inspire the India-Seychelles partnership.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also met Herminie and appreciated his support for India’s Vision MAHASAGAR, aimed at promoting economic prosperity and security in the Indian Ocean region.

Herminie, on a five-day State visit, arrived in Delhi after engagements in Chennai and Mumbai. He was received with a ceremonial welcome at the airport by MoS Anupriya Patel.

In Mumbai, he met Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to discuss port-led development and coastal management. In Chennai, he addressed the India-Seychelles Business Forum organised by FICCI, highlighting cooperation in digital technology, renewable energy, tourism, higher education and electric mobility. A CEOs’ roundtable was also held with Indian industry leaders.
