New Delhi, Feb 27 India and Israel have agreed to enable cross-border use of India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI), marking a key step in bilateral fintech cooperation.
The announcement was made during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Israel, where both sides decided to link UPI with Israel’s domestic payments framework. The integration is expected to make cross-border transactions faster, more efficient and cost-effective for businesses and consumers.
Developed by the National Payments Corporation of India, UPI has already expanded internationally, including in the United Arab Emirates, Singapore and France.
The move strengthens digital financial integration between the two nations and supports the broader push to globalise India’s digital public infrastructure.
