HPCL, IGX Ink MoU to Boost Access to Chhara LNG Terminal

Goa | January 31, 2026; Indian Gas Exchange Limited (IGX) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance access to regasification infrastructure and promote market-based participation in India’s natural gas sector.

The agreement, signed during India Energy Week 2026 in Goa by HPCL’s Executive Director – Natural Gas, Anuj Mehrotra, and IGX’s Managing Director & CEO, Rajesh Kumar Mediratta, aims to develop a digital platform for the transparent booking of regasification services at HPCL’s Chhara LNG Terminal.

HPCL will provide storage and regasification capacities for booking in specified quantities and durations, enhancing infrastructure utilization and fostering a competitive gas market in India.

Mehrotra emphasized that this collaboration reflects HPCL’s commitment to efficient and transparent access to gas infrastructure, while Mediratta noted that the MoU is a significant step toward improving India’s gas market architecture, enhancing participation, efficiency, and price discovery in the natural gas sector.
