Honouring of Visually Impaired student who scored high marks in CBSE Board exam, by Director/HR, NLCIL

Shri R. Vikraman, Director (HR), NLC India Limited, today honoured Selvi G.V. Oviya, a visually challenged girl from Neyveli who wrote the Xth Standard CBSE Board examination independently using technology.

Oviya, a 100% visually impaired student of Jawahar Higher Secondary School (CBSE), Neyveli, has pursued inclusive education in the school. She wrote her Xth Standard examination using technology (using special Laptop) and scored 447 marks out of 500.

She is the first girl student in the southern region of CBSE Board  comprising of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Daman & Diu, who wrote the Xth Std public examination using technology. Her parents Shri A. Vijayaraj (Working as Additional Chief Manager in the Industrial Engineering Wing of NLCIL) and Smt. M. Gokila, have taken lot of effort to bring the girl to mainstream. She is going to continue her Higher Secondary exams in Commerce Group at Coimbatore.

To recognize her great achievement, Shri R. Vikraman, Director (HR) of NLC Limited, Neyveli has honoured Oviya with a cash award of Rs.5000/- on behalf of the Jawahar Education Society. The Society, under the aegis of NLCIL, is running Jawahar Schools at Neyveli in State and Central Board syllabus.

While wishing the girl, Shri Vikraman said that, NLC India Limited is feeling proud to honour the special student who brought laurels to Neyveli and NLCIL. He wished her to achieve her ambition of becoming an IAS and District Collector. Shri Vikraman also presented a citation which contains an appreciation letter wrote by him.

Shri R. Mohan, CGM. Shri S. Vinayagamoorthi, GM of NLCIL Education Department, Shri Gnanasambandan, General Secretary, Jawahar Education Society, Shri DVSN Moorthy, Secretary, Jawahar Schools, Smt. Yasodha, Principal, Jawahar Higher Secondary Schools, Parents of the Student, Teachers and Staff witnessed the event and wished the student.  Earlier, Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal, Hon’ble Union Minister for Human Resource Development has appreciated Oviya for her achievements.
