New Delhi, Nov 15: Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri inaugurated the Hydrothermal Liquefaction Pilot Plant at HPCL Green R&D Centre in Bengaluru.
He commended the Centre’s innovation, led by over 150 scientists, including 37% women leaders, as a significant contribution to India’s Energy Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The new facility aims to convert seaweed into bio-crude, enhancing sustainable bioenergy efforts.

The Minister underscored the necessity of advancing R&D in the oil and gas sector, advocating for commercial opportunities in emerging energy fields.
Additionally, developments in flex-fuel retrofitting for two-wheelers and advancements in battery technologies were showcased, including work on green hydrogen production through indigenous electrolysers.
