Foreign Ministers Reach New Delhi for Second India-Arab Ministerial Meeting

New Delhi, Jan 30 (IANS): Foreign Ministers from several countries arrived in New Delhi for the second India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (IAFMM), scheduled for January 31.

Key figures attending include Libya’s Foreign Minister Eltaher S M Elbaour, Somalia’s Abdisalam Ali, and League of Arab States Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) emphasized the importance of these visits in enhancing bilateral ties between India and the respective states. Additionally, the meeting aims to build on previous cooperation established a decade ago at the first meeting in Bahrain, where five priority areas—economy, energy, education, media, and culture—were defined.

The upcoming discussions reflect a commitment to strengthening the India-Arab partnership across various sectors, formalized through an MoU between India and the League of Arab States in March 2002.
