New Delhi, Jan 18: Engineers India Limited (EIL) has successfully completed the world’s longest horizontal directional drilling (HDD) crossing, extending over 4 kilometers under the Brahmaputra River for a 26-inch pipeline as part of the Paradip–Numaligarh Crude Oil Pipeline project.
The milestone, recorded at 4,058 meters, surpasses EIL’s previous record of 4,027 meters achieved at the Ganga River. This achievement highlights EIL’s engineering excellence and operational capabilities in challenging environments.
The Paradip–Numaligarh pipeline is a strategic 1,635-kilometer corridor aimed at transporting imported crude oil from Paradip port to Assam, enhancing India’s energy security and supporting regional economic growth.
EIL attributed the success to effective collaboration with Numaligarh Refinery Limited and other stakeholders, marking a significant advancement in the development efforts for the North East region. EIL, established in 1965, specializes in engineering consultancy and project management across the oil, gas, petrochemical, and various other sectors, leveraging its technical expertise and experience.
