Coal Secretary reviews progress of NUPPL

Coal Secretary inaugurates Gate Complex of NUPPL Project

Kanpur, Dec 19 Coal Secretary Anil Kumar Jain visited the Joint Venture Power Project, NUPPL in Kanpur, U.P on Dec 19, to review the progress of the project, along with senior officials of NLCIL and UPRVUNL.

The project progress was reviewed  at site alongwith  Rakesh Kumar, CMD, NLCIL, Senthil Pandian,(IAS) MD, UPRVUNL, Shaji John, Director, NLCIL and Mohan Reddy, MD, NUPPL.. Secretary (Coal) visited the  Chimney, Boiler area, TG area, Switch Yard, NDCT area  and had  an in-depth discussion on all aspects of the project  with  senior management and officials present on the occasion. Local issues related to the project were also discussed with the MP, MLA and District officials.

Coal Secretary also inaugurated the Gate complex of the NUPPL project.

Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Ltd (NUPPL) a joint venture of NLC India Ltd (Navratna Govt. of India Enterprise) and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (Government of Uttar Pradesh Undertaking) is setting up a Coal based Supercritical Thermal Power Plant with a capacity of 1980 MW (3 X 660 MW) at Ghatampur Tehsil in Kanpur Nagar District, Uttar Pradesh with 51 :49 equity participation. The project was accorded approval by the  Government of India (GOI) in July 2016.

Construction Power Supply for the project was charged on 19.07.2018.

Though the project schedule was impacted by the Covid pandemic, all out efforts have been made by the Management to accelerate project progress and bring it back on schedule by mobilizing increased manpower strength of 6000 compared to 4200 during pre-covid scenario. Project progress also being augmented by utilizing the incentives and other measures announced by the Government of India to revive the national economy.
