New Delhi, 01.07.2020: On 01.07.2020 at about 1000 hrs, a massive fire broke out in the boiler area of Unit-5 of the Thermal Power Station–2 (TPS-2), NLC India Limited, Neyveli (TN) due to an explosion. On-duty crew of CISF Fire Service Wing deployed at Thermal Power Station-2 of NLC Neyveli along-with fire tender rushed to the spot immediately to contain & extinguish the fire. The message was also communicated to senior officers, all fire stations of CISF Fire Wing NLC Neyveli for reinforcement.
It was observed that multiple levels of boiler of Unit-5 were under-fire. After taking necessary precautions, CISF Fire Wing personnel formed into operational teams headed by Fire Station in-charge and started extinguishing the fire. After rigorous efforts, the fire was controlled by 1030 hrs.
CISF personnel were divided in different teams to conduct search and rescue operation. By prompt and intensive efforts of CISF, about six (06) casualities were removed immediately and about seventeen (17) injured persons were evacuated from the incident place. The victims were shifted to hospitals after providing necessary first aid to the needy. The exact cause of the fire is being inquired by the concerned agencies and NLC Management.
The instant response & efforts to tackle this massive disaster, CISF was highly appreciated by the NLC Management as well as local administration.
