New Delhi, Oct 02: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the widening and improvement of the Kalibor-Numaligarh section of NH-715 in Assam, totaling 85.675 km at an estimated cost of Rs. 6,957 crore.
The project includes constructing a 34.5 km elevated corridor for wildlife movement through Kaziranga National Park to enhance safety and connectivity. The upgrade will involve 30.22 km of road widening and the creation of 21 km of greenfield bypasses, improving access to major cities such as Guwahati, and connecting to airports and railway stations.
This initiative is set to generate approximately 15.42 lakh direct and 19.19 lakh indirect employment opportunities, bolstering regional economic growth and tourism, particularly to Kaziranga National Park.
