BTR Chief stresses the importance of values to the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) girls of NTPC Bongaigaon

New Delhi, Aug 05: Pramod Boro, Chief Executive Member, BTR today interacted with the 40 Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) girls of NTPC Bongaigaon under its “Meet the Role Models” Initiative and also as a part of their educational tour to BTC Secretariat.

Bodo praised the girls for their knowledge on various subjects and asked them about their aim in life. Bodo spoke the importance of values that these girls should incorporate in their life and gave them various tips of becoming a better human being to the nation. Bodo spoke on his journey as Chief Executive Member, BTR and highlighted various achievements and schemes of the Govt. towards the development of girls in the region.

Earlier the GEM children of NTPC Bongaigaon took a day long tour of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Secretariat where they visited the BTR Secretariat, Assembly and also interacted with Executive Members and senior officials of the council. Reo Reoa Narzihary, Executive Member, Industry, Skill development and Entrepreneurship and legal Metrology, BTR and Diganta Baruah, Executive Member, Irrigation, Museum & Archaeology, Ayush also interacted with the girls in their office in presence of senior officials of the council. The girls were amazed to see the infrastructure and the functioning of the state administration.

NTPC has provided a platform for empowerment of girls to showcase their talents and capabilities which will nurture their creativity and sharpen their psychological, social and emotional growth for lifetime through their four-week Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) at its premises at Salakati, Kokrajhar. NTPC Bongaigaon is conducting the program for the 1st time and said that shortlisted 40 girls of age group 10-12 years have come a long way right from the baseline survey, medical examination, registration process and finally at this campus.

Shashi Shekhar, Additional General Manager (HR), NTPC Bongaigaon and the faculties of GEM were also present during the meeting.
