New Delhi, Sept 18: The Department of Posts (DoP) and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) have signed a one-year memorandum of understanding (MoU) to leverage India Post’s 1.65 lakh post offices as sales points for BSNL SIM card sales and mobile recharge services.
This collaboration aims to enhance the accessibility and affordability of BSNL’s telecom services, particularly for citizens in rural and remote areas, thereby bridging the digital divide.
BSNL will supply SIM stock and provide training, while DoP will manage customer onboarding and transactions.
The initiative follows a successful proof of concept in Assam and is set for a nationwide rollout, combining the extensive reach of India Post with BSNL’s telecom infrastructure and expertise.
