Environmental Impact Assessment

  • Environmental Impact Assessment by M/s ERM:Air quality monitoring and Noise level monitoring were carried out at Guijan side, while air quality monitoring was carried out at Baghjan side yesterday. Consultation with local people carried out as a part of the ecological survey in Bebejia, Motapung and Balijan area.
  • TERI Study on Air Quality & Noise Level: Samples for monitoring air quality and noise level are being collected for analysis. Recording of data at already installed analysers is in
  • TERI study on Bioremediation of Sludge: Site preparation for bio remediation job is in progress depending on site condition. Debris clearance along the roadside from the blow out well towards MaguriBeel is in progress.
  • CSIR-NEIST Seismological Study: Recording is in progress in the vicinity of Baghjan-5 well. Currently, 5 sets of sensors including an accelerometer are recording data.

Preparation for Capping the Well:

  • Debris Removal: The debris removal activity was continued at site today since morning with continuous spraying /jacketing of water in the well plinth/debris. 6 loads of debris amongst others,including following major items were removed from the well plinthyesterday :
  • 2 nos. of fire tenders
  • 1 no. filtration unit
  • 1 no. cement mixing tank
  • 1 no. cementing pump with delivery lines
  • Readiness of Equipment at Site: Refilling of water reservoir carried out.Standby equipment&accessories are ready for water filling. Depending on requirement, fabrication & repairing jobs are being carried out at the temporary workshop created near the site.
  • Shifting of Debris from LaydownArea:Shifting of debris from debris Lay Down toDuliajan is in progress as per requirement. Shifting of 5 loads of debris to Duliajan completed yesterday.
  • Civil work at Site: 40% of civil work for development of the new area for placing Kill Pumps near debris laydown area has been completed. Emergency escape route from Debris Laydown Area has been made.
  • Transferring equipment/material to the site: Following materialsare being transferred to site today.
    • 2 nos. Fire Monitors
    • 140 pieces of portadeck mats
    • One no. excavator
    • Smoke Tower
    • Heat Shields with accessories for Fire Monitors, Bull dozers etc.


Other equipment and materials are being transferred in a phased mannerdepending on requirement and site condition.

  • Servicing of Equipment at OIL’s CMT Yard/ Engineering Workshop:Servicing of standby engine/ pumps etc. is in progress.
  • Equipment/Material mobilized from outside:Allimportant equipment/ materials mobilized from outside reached Duliajan/Site.


Relief and Rehabilitation

  • Surveys for Assessment of damage for compensation by the committee constituted by District Administration are in progress. Assessments for 34 more families were conducted yesterdayinDoomdoomaCircle and 70 families in Tinsukia circle making total number of families surveyed till date in Doomdooma and Tinsukia Circle 856 families.


Impact onOil/GasProduction due to Protests

  • Due to stoppage/blockades, there was production loss of 28 MT of Crude Oil and 0.02 MMSCM of Natural Gas as reported on 02-07-2020. Operations were disrupted in 03 Oil wells. Cumulative production loss since 27th May, 2020 due to bandhs and blockades: 9047 MT Crude oil, 11.59 MMSCM of natural gas.


Any other Issues

Mock drill of evacuation plan was successfully carried out on 02.07.2020 with the Helicopter services provided by Airforce.
