New Delhi, Sep 10 The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the construction of an 82.4 km, 4-lane greenfield access-controlled Mokama-Munger section of the Buxar-Bhagalpur high-speed corridor in Bihar.
Costing Rs 4,447.38 crore and to be built on a hybrid annuity mode, this project will enhance connectivity to cities such as Mokama, Munger, and Bhagalpur. It aims to support the growing industrial and logistical needs of eastern Bihar, including its ordinance, textile, and food processing sectors.
The corridor, designed for speeds of 100 km/h, is expected to reduce travel time to about 1.5 hours and generate substantial employment (over 14 lakh man-days direct and indirect). This initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to expand national highway infrastructure and boost economic growth.
