New Delhi, Sep 13 Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inauguration of significant development initiatives in Mizoram and Manipur, particularly the 51 km Bairabi-Sairang railway line, which connects Mizoram to the Indian railway network for the first time.
This Rs 8,070 crore project is lauded for enhancing travel safety, speed, and affordability, and ensuring better supply chains. The government also reported a five-fold increase in railway allocations to the Northeast region since 2014, with numerous projects underway to boost connectivity, mobility, and economic integration across states like Tripura, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, and Assam.
The state also witnessed the flagging off of three new train services, the Sairang -Delhi Rajdhani Express, the Sairang-Guwahati Express and the Sairang-Kolkata Express.
