New Delhi, Feb 14: In the last six months of December 2025, Indian Railways blocked approximately 60.43 billion malicious bot requests to safeguard its e-ticketing system.
Key measures implemented include Aadhaar-based OTP verification for purchasing tatkal tickets, improving fairness and transparency by preventing multiple unauthorized accounts. Security enhancements include CAPTCHA mechanisms to thwart hacking attempts, the use of a Content Delivery Network (CDN), and anti-bot solutions like AKAMAI to filter out malicious traffic.
High availability infrastructure is protected by advanced security tools such as network firewalls and intrusion prevention systems, designed to mitigate DDoS attacks.
The physical security of the hosting data center in New Delhi is fortified with surveillance and restricted access, while ongoing security audits and monitoring by CERT-In and other agencies ensure robust defense mechanisms against cyber threats.
Administrative measures have seen the deactivation of approximately 3.03 crore suspicious user accounts in 2025. Reports indicate that the majority of requests, often from bot sources, are effectively blocked, ensuring smoother operations for genuine users.
