New Delhi, Feb 23: The government on Monday reported that revenue generated from scrap disposal under the Swachhata campaign has reached Rs 4,405.28 crore between 2021 and January 2026.
According to the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), Rs 200.21 crore was realised during December 2025–January 2026 alone, while 81,322 lakh files were weeded out across 5,188 offices as part of record management reforms.
The 27th edition of the Secretariat Reforms report highlighted sustained progress in administrative efficiency and digital governance. Cleanliness drives conducted at 5,188 sites in January freed approximately 4.34 lakh sq ft of office space, with the Ministry of Coal and Ministry of Heavy Industries among the top contributors.
In January 2026, 93.81 per cent of newly created files were processed as e-Files, while 95.29 per cent of receipts were handled electronically. Fifteen ministries achieved 100 per cent e-Receipt adoption, reflecting accelerated digital integration across departments.
The report also noted disposal of over 5.57 lakh public grievances (90.41 per cent resolution rate) and significant reductions in file processing layers, with average transaction levels declining from 7.19 in 2021 to 4.31 in January 2026.
