Shri R.Vikraman,Director/HR inaugurated the newly constructed and renovated buildings.
Shri R. Vikraman, Director/HR, NLC India Limited has inaugurated new classrooms constructed for Tagore Matriculation school and the renovated existing school building at Kamarajar Primary school, Neyveli, yesterday which are built at a cost of Rs.85.46 lakhs, under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives of NLCIL.
Tagore Matriculation Higher Secondary School
This School run by Tagore Educational Society is functioning at Block-29, Neyveli. Based on the request made by the society, NLCIL has constructed four classrooms in two floors in the school premises with modern furniture and fittings including ceramic boards, electrical fittings etc. The company also renovated the existing toilets for students and teachers by replacing the old tiles and fittings. Laying of new paver blocks from the entrance to the new building and exterior painting for existing building are the other works carried out by the CSR department of NLCIL. The total value of the work is Rs.48.69 Lakhs.
Kamarajar Primary School
Shri Vikraman, has also inaugurated the renovated building of Kamarajar Primary School yesterday at Neyveli. This school is functioning in Block-30 and run by Kamarajar Educational society exclusively for the downtrodden students from the nearby villages of Neyveli. The existing asbestos roof of the entire school building was replaced by new Galvanium sheets. The ambience of the classrooms were augmented by providing false ceiling, new steel grills, steel windows and with scratch proof Sahabad tiles in the floors. NLCIL also renovated the existing toilets for students and staff by replacing the old tiles and fittings. Painting exterior and interior of the uilding is also done by the CSR department of NLCIL. The total value of the work is Rs.36.77 Lakhs.
While addressing, Shri R. Vikraman informed that as many as 40 schools are functioning in Neyveli Township. He further said that NLCIL always give paramount importance for education and fulfill the needs of the schools every year in a phased manner. He advised the student community to work hard and blessed them to become the future leaders of the country.
Dr. V. Kulandaivelu, former Member of Parliament, Chidambaram Constituency and the Patron of Tagore Education Society, Shri R. Mohan, CGM/CSR, Shri V. Ramachandran, GM/CSR, Senior officials and employees of NLCIL, students, teachers, parents and public participated in large numbers at the functions.
Dr. K.C. Rajabather, Founder of Tagore Educational Society and Shri A. Selvabharathi, Correspondent, Kamaraj Educational Society, thanked the NLCIL Management for the noble services extended towards the welfare of the downtrodden students.
Earlier, Shri R. Vikraman, flagged off the Swachh Bharat Rally in both the schools disseminating the message “Say No to Plastic” . He presented the Cloth bags to the students with a request to motivate their parents to use cloth bags instead of plastic bags.
