Dr. S. K. Acharya, CMD, NLCIL has commissioned the re-routed Conveyor System in Mine-I, erected to bring down the production cost of Lignite, on 08-06-2018. The effort will lead the company to save an amount of Rs.17 crore in a year.
Mine-I Lignite Bench system is operated with 2000mm belt conveyor to transport the lignite from the site of excavation to the stack yard. Earlier, the production conveyors are connected to the stacking conveyors, through 5 Link conveyors of total length 2719 m. The total number of drives (630KW capacity) used in these 5 link conveyors are 10.
To reduce the cost of production of Lignite, the production conveyor is directly connected with the stacking conveyors through one single conveyor having 4 drives. To erect this proposed conveyor NL/3, a ramp was formed, two dome bridges were erected for crossing the New Surface Bench conveyor (NS/3) and Surface Bench System conveyor (S/3) and new conveyor was erected for a length of 839 m.
